Cuts Meeting A Success

3.50.54pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 24th Aug 2009

Following their victory in bringing forward a meeting of councillors, senior officers and Unison last Thursday to discuss staff concerns over the County Council's proposed budget cuts, Liberal Democrats have hailed the outcome a success.

Unison and the County Council have now agreed to work together to draw up a protocol for the employment of consultants and agency staff.

Deputy Liberal Democrat Leader, Cllr Jean Fooks, said, "This was a constructive and worthwhile meeting - I am pleased that it was held at our insistence and delighted that a way forward has been agreed."
