Woodstock Road Cycle Track Victory

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Mon 9th Jun 2008

County Councillor Dermot Roaf (on behalf of local cyclists) has been pressing the County for over a year to extend the cycle track on the wide pavement on the west side of Woodstock Road south of Bainton Road. There is a gap between the end of the bus-lane and the start of the cycle track at Bainton Road and the traffic island near Moreton Road makes the road very narrow and frightening for cyclists.

The County Council has now announced plans to do install a cycle track on the pavement from Frenchay Road to Bainton Road.

Dermot said, "I am delighted that the County Council has finally listened to the pleas of local residents and seen the sense in extending this cycle track. There is plenty of room there, it will improve the situation for cyclists along this busy road and so encourage more people to abandon their cars and cycle."
