Easier Bus Travel Opposed4.48.29pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 1st Apr 2008
Many people understand the frustration of not being able to use the ticket from one bus on another operator's services. Liberal Democrat Leader, Councillor Zoé Patrick has found many excellent schemes in other areas of the country where multi-ticketing is flourishing. For example, the Solent Travelcard in South Hampshire is an integrated ticket that can be used with five different companies for just £5.80 per day. Unfortunately, this brilliant idea was thrown out by the ruling Tories at County Hall. "This is a totally lost opportunity to make bus travel so much easier and cheaper for residents of Oxfordshire," said Zoé. "Having to pay twice to go on another bus or being stranded, waiting for hours, could have been so easily solved by a simple paper ticket and a plastic wallet. This is a typical example of the Tories' famous 'can do' approach being all talk and no action." Related Link:
