London Road Design, Safety Questions

12.00.00am GMT Thu 3rd Jan 2008

Cllr Roz Smith, Liberal Democrat County Councillor for Barton & Churchill, today successfully persuaded the County Council to publish the safety audit to be done on the changes proposed to London Road, Headington.

Cllr Smith raised concerns about the design of the scheme to help buses run to time through Headington. She particularly mentioned the busy Osler Road junction and the County?s wish to encourage cycling in the bus lanes. Officers promised that these would be looked at as part of the audit.

The safety audit will take place later this year, and Roz Smith asked for it to be made public, possibly on the County?s website.

Roz said, ?I cycle along London Road all the time and feel safer not using the very narrow bus lanes. I?m glad that this will be addressed and that the safety report will be available to the public.?
