Community Safety "A Waste of Time" say Tories

2.44.32pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 3rd Apr 2007

In an extraordinary move today, the ruling Conservatives on the County Council rejected a Lib Dem motion to reduce crime and the fear of crime in Oxfordshire communities. In fact, Conservative Councillor Don Seale called the discussion "a waste of time".

"This is a serious matter for all our communities, and I was hoping that some action could be taken to address people's fears. Unfortunately, complacency has won the day!" said Zoé Patrick, Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group
