Steventon Reservoir

2.05.24pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 17th Oct 2006

The Liberal Democrats on the County Council have joined in pressing Thames Water for more detail on why the proposed new reservoir at Steventon is needed.

Cllr Anne Purse, Shadow Cabinet member for Sustainable Development, said, "If this reservoir is built, it will have a very marked effect on Oxfordshire in terms of actually taking up land in a historic river valley, because of its visibility and on roads during its construction and probably afterwards. We need to know that there are very good reasons before we can agree to it."
