This is the website of the Oxfordshire County Council Liberal Democrat Group. There are 15 Liberal Democrat Councillors on Oxfordshire County Council. The Liberal Democrats are the official opposition to the Conservative-run Council.

There was a vacancy on the County Council, and a by-election was held on 1st May 2008. The Conservatives held this seat. More information about this by-election, the last election in 2005 and all other by-elections since 2005 can be found on the election page.

City and District Elections 2008

There were elections on 1st May for three of the five District Councils in Oxfordshire - Cherwell District Council, Oxford City Council and West Oxfordshire District Council. There are no elections in Vale of White Horse District or South Oxfordshire District until May 2011. The next County Council election is likely to be June 2009, to coincide with the European Parliament election (the Government are currently consulting on moving the County elections to this date).

Oxford City is divided between two constituencies - Oxford West & Abingdon and Oxford East.

Cherwell District is in the Banbury constituency, except for Kidlington. For information on Kidlington, please use the link to Oxford West above.

West Oxfordshire District is in the Witney constituency.

Local Dismay at Bus Route Change

Local Liberal Democrat County Councillor Roz Smith has spoken of her residents' dismay at changes to the No. 10 bus route, which now no longer serves residents in the Florence Park area. And there was concern that the new route now means buses doing a u-turn on the busy Between Towns Road (B4495) outside the Temple Square shopping centre and right next to one of the busiest pedestrian crossings in Oxford.
